There Is Enough Housing Right Now For Homeless People In America

The time to build such housing is also an issue. With nearly 750,000 people homeless in America, it would take years, if not decades to build enough housing for them.
With the worst housing slump in a generation currently going on now, there is actually enough housing ALREADY BUILT.
CNNMoney.com reporter writes about why the current housing market took a dramatic dive. Too many houses built, and not enough first time home buyers. What does that mean for those living on the streets?
Here is what the reporter wrote:
Builders constructed far more homes from 2002 until 2006 - the peak bubble years - than could possibly be absorbed by the normal growth in households.
As a result, the market is now swamped with one million new and existing homes for sale that aren't occupied, and hence need to sell quickly. That's a multiple of the figure in most downturns, and it testifies to the duration and girth of the bubble.
You heard it (or read it) correctly. There are ONE MILLION NEW AND EXISTING HOMES FOR SALE THAT AREN’T OCCUPIED. Now granted, most of these are multi-bedroom family homes.
But what is wrong with this picture… a country that has 750,000 of its citizens sleeping on its streets, and a million homes sitting empty. It is absurd.
