The Threat Of Homelessness Reaching Middle-Class

Here is the beginning of the article:
Homeless people living in cars and mobile homes across the US are being joined by a new breed: the middle-class.
As mortgage foreclosures continue rising month on month, growing numbers of middle-class professionals are losing their homes and downsizing from four bedrooms to four wheels.

When I studied political sciene relative to pre-law, we were taught that poverty is a necessity for the rich to thrive.
I did not believe it. I do now.
From college to a budding career, to illness, to homelessness in skid row L.A., CA; I have seen how easy it is to go from middle to low to bottom class.
Greatfully with the assistance of PATH and other agencies over the last five years, my life is on the "up."
Still, facing the widening gap of haves and "havenots" with inflation, population and social ills spurts makes it challenging to not loose ground. I remember being told until I became homeless there was no help for me.
People Assisting The Homeless is great (After 2 years of struggle, the first place that treated me with respect as opposed to a criminal guilty of homelessness)... How about People Assisting The Alumni Homeless or People Assisting The Endangered of Being Homeless?
Are there any such organizations out here? Can PATH assist in the development of one?
