Here Comes The (Homeless) Judge…

The Long Beach Press Telegram recently highlighted his good work, since Judge Tynan was speaking at conference at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Judge Tynan has developed a homeless court where he “sentences” non-violent offenders to support services rather than jail. In other words, he sends them to get a job, or a high school diploma, or deal with a drug addiction. And if a case manager can verify a person’s success, Judge Tynan clears the record.
Addressing root causes of homelessness is much more effective than simply punishing people for being in an environment that most have not chosen to be in.

Too bad he has no housing to sentence the homeless to. It's all forced 12 step witchcraft and mats on the floor with hundreds other poor souls. And once their sentence is over....Back to the streets to start it all over again.
Let's get real here...we have all this "good ole guys" stuff, give the judges and others special certiciates and reconition for all their good work, when in fact, it is the judges who put people in prison at an alarming rate, ruining their life and chances to be a human being. I am one of those. I filed for divorce, wasn't represented, my husband got a restraining order, and I went to prison for 3 years because a judge thought a "friendly" phone call was a violation. What is going on in this world where this is allowed to happen? The DA prosecuted because he wanted to get a "woman" for stalking. A telephone call, comeon. Now I'm homeless, have no money and a convicted felon because of a vendictive husband, DA and Judge. I was a well respected member of society making up to $150,000 a year, and now I'm homeless. On parole, you can't get off if you are homeless. I've lost everything, when in prison my husband and kids took all my savings, my property and if I call them I will be prosecuted. What has this world come to? What has the California legal system come to when they do this, when they can and will ruin peoples lives. This is an injustice and people don't want to help the homeless because they think they are the scum of the earth. We became that because of the system. I've said my mind, and I'm angry and tired of what has happened to me and others. Disgusted with LA.
Give me a break!!!!
This just a a HUGE joke and PATH is sick and silly for even taking part. But then again many of the things PATH just like all the other programs that are supposed to help homeless people do is a HUGE joke.
You said they get a sentence to a great JOB. Yeah right. if this were the case i woul dhave already been to this court and I wouldnt be homeless. Why cant PATH and other agencies fro REAL answers to this HUGE problem facing our city and this nation when it comes to homelessness? Why do you make JOKES about "crack" while people like LISA work for PATH and abuse homeless people each day.
Give me a break Joel. This Judge nor YOU or PATH care about the issues facing homeless people. If you did, more would be done
Went into Path again and said I need housing...They said NO! I was also told to stop asking and told not to come back.
